Why pre-declare
When you tell us a package is on the way, we can match it to your account the moment it lands at the warehouse. Without a declaration, boxes that arrive with incomplete labels sit in an "unclaimed" shelf until you claim them -- which sometimes takes days.
Where the form is
Sign in, open your Mailbox dashboard, and click Declare expected package. One form per order.
What to fill in
- Retailer name -- Flipkart, Amazon.in, Myntra, AliExpress, etc. Helps us recognise the sender label at a glance.
- Retailer tracking number -- copy it from the order confirmation email. This is the single most useful field. If we have it, we can match the package even if the suite number is missing from the label.
- Estimated value -- in the retailer currency. We use this for your records, not for customs.
- Short description -- "black kurta, size M" is enough. If customs ever asks, a clear description helps.
What happens next
Your declaration sits in "expected" status. When the matching box arrives, it flips to "received" automatically and you get an email with photos of the sealed box and label. Usually within 2 hours of delivery.
If a package arrives and we cannot match it to any declaration, we hold it for 30 days while we try to reach the sender. Pre-declaring avoids all of that.
